Our school has 3 classes: Rabbit Class, Squirrel Class and Badger Class, with up to 30 children in each. Our policy is to maintain a good adult to child ratio. Teachers in each class are supported by classroom assistants and whenever possible by parent helpers.
We believe that there is a strong link between a child's confidence and sense of security and his or her ability to learn. We therefore plan each transition so that it includes many small steps, enabling children to feel that each 'journey' is at their personal stride.
Starting school at Polesden Lacey Infants "The school is justifiably pleased" with its "exemplary induction procedures". Ofsted, April 02 Welcome to Polesden Lacey Infant School (This popular guide, written by our children for new joiners, is being digitised and will appear here soon.) We work extremely hard to ensure that children find our school welcoming and easy to 'belong' to. Those joining our reception class are invited to join our Summer Club. Once a week for the whole of the summer, they spend an afternoon each week getting to know their future classmates, our staff and about school life through a programme that we've been perfecting over many years! Our 'welcome pack' contains plenty of material to help parents prepare their child for school and support his or her first few weeks at school. We also provide contact sheets for each class so that friendships can be strengthened through out-of-school play-dates.
